Borono-Peptide Chemical Biology
We are highly enthusiastic as well as hard-working (Science reading & researching simultaneously), a young group in finding novel chemistries that can be implemented in solving the prevailing problems in public health. Therefore, AB encourages joining the AB-Lab Organic/ Bioorganic/Biochemistry/Medicinal Chem Background student who is interested in learning, reading, and working in interdisciplinary science between Chemistry and Biology. The lab has high expectations from young scientists who can create a novel identity for science.
Research Interest
In the abundant notions of molecular recognition techniques, nevertheless, the medical diagnosis ubiquitously relies on an antibody, especially for specific targets. Antibodies or monoclonal antibody-based therapies and diagnosis are appallingly expensive and has several biological issues. In contrast, peptide/mini-protein based therapeutics and diagnostics has proved to be cost-effective, comparable alternative in biomedical circumstances. However, the discovery of peptide-based receptors challenges in specific and tight recognition frequently. For instance, recognition of lipid and glycan biomarkers by peptide is still underdeveloped in medical use. Capturing these targets proved to be amenable for detection/inhibition of cancer, pathogenic virus, diabetes, etc. Peptide-based pharmacophore development against a specific DNA sequence is another challenging mission. Equally, tracking toxic metabolites is crucial for disease diagnosis and food administration. In order to unravel the problems, an innovative peptide engineering approach will be illuminated into specific recognition of these challenging, urgent targets. By harnessing novel chemistries, our imminent group will establish a platform to mature peptide receptor inspired specific recognition. The major aim is to dissect cooperative molecular interaction, understand mechanistic biology, and to discover easily accessible biomedical tools.
